Sunbury College runs a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. Students bring a suitable laptop to every class — the device is a core part of how we teach and learn.
Why laptops
We have phased out tablets (such as iPads) from the program. From 2021, no new tablets have been connected to the network, although existing tablet users continue to be supported. The College strongly prefers a laptop with stylus-enabled touchscreen — the stylus is optional but recommended.
Key expectations
- Students bring a charged laptop to every class
- No charging in class — this is an OH&S requirement, which is why battery life matters
- Devices must meet our minimum specifications (below)
- The IT department connects suitable devices and installs school software after the family signs the Student IT Code of Conduct and BYOD Policy
