2027 Year 7 Enrolment & Transition.
Welcome prospective families — here’s everything you need to know about joining Sunbury College in Year 7.
Starting secondary school is a big step. We work closely with our feeder primary schools to make the transition into Year 7 at Sunbury College as smooth as it can be.
Below are answers to the questions families most often ask, plus the documents and dates you’ll need.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What do I need to do to enrol?
If your child is at a Victorian government primary school: the school will distribute the Application for 6 to 7 Placement 2027 Pack. Complete the pack and return it to your primary school by Friday 8 May 2026. The primary school will pass it to us.
If your child is home-schooled or at a non-government primary school: download the pack from the Department of Education website and return it to your primary school, OR submit it directly to Sunbury College by Friday 8 May 2026.
2. Is my child guaranteed a place?
The Sunbury College school zone is published on Find My School. Residents in zone are guaranteed a place. Out-of-zone families may still be offered a place and are encouraged to apply — sibling information is collected on the Placement Form and is considered in our process.
3. Who is the first point of contact?
Until your placement is confirmed, the Department requires secondary schools to liaise via primary schools. So your first point of contact is the Year 6 Coordinator, Transition Coordinator or Principal at your child’s primary school.
4. Can I have a tour of the College?
Yes — tours run regularly through the year. Book a tour here.
5. Where can I read the official Department transition policy?
See moving from primary to secondary school on the Victorian Government website.

I felt so welcomed from the first day. By the end of the first week I’d made friends and knew my way around.
