Careers & Pathways.

One-to-one counselling, VET programs, work experience and tertiary preparation — from Year 9 onwards.

Our Careers, Pathways and Vocational Education Leader provides careers education and counselling, supports Work Experience, maintains the careers library, manages our VET program (including School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships), coordinates Vocational Major work placements, liaises with VTAC, and helps students through tertiary applications, offers and ATAR.

The careers room is well-resourced with computer programs for course research. Information is distributed via fortnightly posts on Compass covering job ads, work experience opportunities, TAFE and university courses, and resume tips.

Work Experience Program

Year 10 students complete a two-week Work Experience block, typically the first two weeks of June after Year 10 exams. Other year levels can arrange Work Experience by individual arrangement.

Vocational Education & Training (VET)

VET courses are delivered via Registered Training Organisations. In-house at Sunbury:

  • Business
  • Screen and Media
  • Music
  • Sport and Recreation

Off-site at TAFE partners:

  • Electrotechnology
  • Building and Construction
  • Hair and Beauty
  • Animal Studies
  • Plumbing

School-Based Apprenticeships are available in Automotive, Building and Construction, and Hairdressing.

My Careers Portfolio (MCP)

The MCP and MCP Online are the College’s careers planning toolkit. Students build a Career Action Plan and work through Toolbox, World of Work and My Future modules. A short YouTube intro is available here. Destination Tracking supports our ex-students into the next stage.

Morrisby Testing

Morrisby is an online careers guidance, aptitude and personality tool. Students typically complete Morrisby in Term 2 of Year 9, with the testing running over three periods. Counselling sessions with Morrisby counsellors follow, and student profiles can be retaken and reused throughout their school career.
