English.
Reading, writing, speaking and language skills across Years 7-12, including VCE Literature.
In English we explore the ideas, issues and values of the world around us. We develop the reading, writing, speaking and language skills that students need to succeed in every other subject — and well beyond school.
How we teach English
We differentiate teaching using Victorian Curriculum levels, NAPLAN data, PAT testing and student feedback. Assessment is rigorous, with rubrics published so students know what success looks like.
Principles for staff and students
- Respect for others in every classroom discussion
- Encouraging learning through reflective dialogue
- Effective organisation of texts, ideas and work habits
- Creative productivity in writing and oral work
- Reflection on the writing and reading process
