Mathematics at Sunbury College runs from Year 7 to Year 12 in line with the Victorian Curriculum, across Statistics and Probability, Number and Algebra, and Measurement and Geometry.
Streamed by ability
Year 7 Mathematics classes are streamed by ability so that every student is challenged at the right level. We use PAT (Progressive Achievement Testing) to identify each student’s point of learning and to measure growth across the year.
Electives and enhancement
- Year 9 electives: Numeracy support and Extension Mathematics
- VCE acceleration: high-achieving students may begin a VCE Mathematics study in Year 10
- Australian Mathematics Competition: we encourage entry across all year levels

For students in the Vocational Major, Numeracy is compulsory and is taught in an applied context.
